ASSOCIATE EDITORS: DIDIER MUTTER (MD, PhD, FACS), BERNARD DALLEMAGNE (MD)

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

To introduce standard techniques of minimally invasive colorectal surgery
To provide therapeutic strategy and technical tips for challenging cases
To introduce new techniques and innovative technologies which can be integrated into the conventional procedure

general overview

This special online masterclass is made up of 13 videos of Dr. Armando Melani’s live interactive surgeries, including two IRCAD webinars. The covered spectrum is deliberately large and includes laparoscopic resection of each colonic segment, robotic TME, TaTME with the TEO™ platform, and laparoscopic pelvic exenteration. See the cutting edge of minimally invasive colorectal surgery, as well as constructive and authoritative comments from world-famous panel members.

Well done, I appreciate the approach from bottom to the anterior surface of duodenum. I believe this approach is reserved for laparoscopic surgeon with higher experience; I do perform a standard medial to lateral.

excellent dissection & demonstration.
pleasure watching it.
During a right hemicolectomy, we often face a bulky tumor with conglomerated metastatic lymph nodes near the major vessels. In this case, we should pay more attention to keep the correct dissection plane and avoid any injury to the vessels. This live interactive surgery demonstrates how to perform a proper lymphadenectomy during laparoscopic right hemicolectomy for bulky ascending colon cancer with huge metastatic lymph nodes.

Thanks so much it was a nice teaching
The safety and feasibility of laparoscopic colectomy for transverse colon cancer are still controversial and the surgical technique is not standardized. In this live interactive surgery, Dr. Armando Melani performed a laparoscopic transverse colon resection for early mid-transverse colon cancer. Since it has a low incidence and technical difficulties arise in performing lymphadenectomy around the middle colic artery and in mobilizing the transverse colon, this video would be valuable to provide technical tips in each key step for laparoscopic transverse colon resection.

absolutely fantastic demonstration of splenic flexture mobilisation.

thank you.
Splenic flexure mobilization is technically challenging. However, it is necessary to achieve a tension-free anastomosis for any low rectal cancer resections or for a shortened sigmoid colon. In this live interactive surgical video, Dr. Armando Melani (Brazil) demonstrates a medial-to-lateral approach to splenic flexure mobilization for laparoscopic low anterior resection. He defines the main points of his procedure in a stepwise approach and provides technical tips to facilitate exposure and prevent any potential risks of splenic or vascular injuries.

This is a very nice educational video, demonstrating step-by-step the main principles of lap sigmoidectomy for cancer. Congratulations Dr Armando Melani!
In this educational video, Dr. Armando Melani briefly demonstrates the main principles of laparoscopic sigmoidectomy for cancer in a 67-year-old female patient in a live interactive surgery. He highlights the technical aspects, anatomical landmarks, and key steps of lesser sac opening, vascular identification and division, splenic flexure mobilization, lateral mobilization, mesorectal transection, suprapubic incision for specimen removal, and end-to-end anastomosis (EEA).
